The David Davis Mansion - home of prominent politician and Lincoln campaign presidential manager - is not used as a residence these days…

…aside the Turkey Vultures who have taken up roof rights!

The drive through the maple and oak trees at Funks Grove is the perfect segway to learning about sirup production.

The last of the overnight rain departed to make way for a muggy but dry day.

Who would have known storing maple sirup in bourbon barrels could influence the taste so much!

The giants are coming to Atlanta…

…to join the original Paul Bunyan ‘muffler man’ the tiny town is known for.

Over at the Memories museum, Bob and Granny haven’t been going anywhere fast for some time…

…while in Lincoln we found a mode of transport even slower.

It’s the gateway to a town, so named by a man who would become the country’s greatest leader.

Before that though, he would practice law right here...

…just along the street from Kevin’s gas station, turned antique store.

Another gas station in Williamsville hasn’t seen service for a while, other than a canvas for a good photo.

It’s in Springfield though, where the real story lies about Lincoln’s past at the Presidencial museum.

Lincoln and his Army General Ulysses S Grant were caught chatting about issues surrounding the Civil War.

The museum over at Ace Signs is interwoven into their operational graphics department.

It’s a shining example of how common sense in the practical application of show casing something can be run in conjunction with a source of funding required to maintain it.

Of the thousands of Carnegie Libraries around the world, only one carries a different name. The steel magnet cum philanthropist felt it only respectful to honour Lincoln rather than himself in his home region. The original stone facia from the building is now displayed in the museum.

And did you know that before reflective sign products, they used cat-eyes to help illuminate important markers!

There was a cozy dog on offer at Ed Waldmire’s original outlet…

…but it was what was on offer at Motorheads that was tastier!

Dinner was eventually arrived at, inside Motorheads where crowds had gathered to sing and dance.

Our final move of the day was to skirt around the city to the Fairgrounds to see her tribute to Illinois’ Route 66 Centenary in 2026.
