Breakfast was 'GOOD AS' at Mr D'z in Kingman...

but around the corner it was 'BAD gASS' for boys...

...and girls!

This set of wheels was the personal property of the King himself - Elvis.

The cutting from Kingman brings the train track and road together before opening out to the plains beyond.

Our run took us toward mountains and Cool Springs.

Deb explained how the gas station was rebuilt - since falling into ruin in the late seventies - for the movie Universal Soldier.

Since then it's gained popularity as the inspiration for the gas station in another movie - Cars.

The serpent - that's more than 199 turns in 8 miles of the original alignment...

...twists it's way up the mountain to a town that made its name with gold.

These days Ostman's a goldmine for sellers of curios and other Route 66 stuff.

It's also a great spot for a honeymoon.. or at least it was for Clark Gable and Carol Lombard.

Raz started a romance of his own on the way out of town...

when the Burros got more friendly than normal.

Mind you, there was nothing shy about this road runner going about his business in amongst the town folk.

Pretty rare to see in the wild, this one made three for this trip.

From here we dropped of the old road, on to the slick i95 to Boulder City.

Hoover Dam stands proud at the end of the 95 and 93, providing the life blood to much of this nation.

Some of that nation happens to live in a purpose built entertainment town called Las Vegas.

It's a complex place plonked in the middle of the desert with all manner of ways to earn a living.

It's also lit up like the proverbial Christmas tree so probably good there's a good power source nearby.

The old precinct was worth a visit so six of us used appropriate electrical transport to get there...

...although the irony of an energy saving car in this part of the world seems somewhat wasted!

Bellagio's water feature is in a grand scale... but of course that wouldn't consume much power... would it!
