2024 EB Day 0 - Getting Set

…and so it begins!

Greg and Vicki were collected from LAX ex Sydney and joined the rest of the eastbound team at Mel’s Diner in Santa Monica for breakfast. Chasen Weiss, grandson of the founder of Mel’s explained some of their history, including the original Diner featuring in American Graffiti.

It’s on the site of the official end/start of R66, so an appropriate place to meet up.

We slipped off the coast to The Petersen Museum that doesn’t require any words!

Next stop, a tour of Hollywood and Beverley Hills to see how the rest of the world lives!!

After sorting local phones… (0/10 - AT&T 10/10 T-Mobile) we found our way to the pier to meet a local Mother Road guru. Ian Bowen explained the road ahead and generally set the scene.
