Our ‘friendly’ elk wandered back in before left the Haulapai State Park…

ree

…for the run back to Kingman. A drop of over 3000 feet.

ree

Mr D’z was breakfast, a famous Mother Road diner, and a must stop spot on the journey.

ree

Once again we climbed up into the mountains, to Cool Springs,

ree
ree

…that little gas station used as inspiration for Radiator Springs in the movie cars.

ree

Further up through Sidewinder, dozens of tight twisting turns over 8 miles into Oatman.

ree

That’s the crazy western town, with wooden sidewalks and Burros… no they’re not donkeys!

ree

There’s a money hotel! Well it’s the Oatman Hotel actually…

ree

…where Carol Lombard and Clark Gable honeymooned!

ree

Of course a western town has real bank robbers… doesn’t it?

ree

It was the burro though, that were stealing things from Cathie!

ree

They were also on guard as we left town…

ree

…heading toward the border with Nevada.

ree

A border defined by the Colorado River… and casinos… a water playground in an otherwise dry desolate region.

ree

A runner helped our cause heading down the I 95 to Hoover Dam.

ree

It’s low… almost as low as 2022 which is the lowest point since the dam was built.

ree

The Cromwell was home in Las Vegas, the name clearly influenced by the English statesman, politician and soldier.

ree
ree

The influence out in the street was somewhat less stately!

ree

Under the cover of day though the Venetian is always a little surreal…

ree
ree

…as is the Sistine Chapel!

ree

As expected though, the water displays were on fire as the night wore on!
