Breakfast on a bonnet at the Wigwam before hitting the road west…

…on and off the old road.

Some of that road was dirt…

…and some of it included a bridge no longer in use!

Through the Continental Divide, that bit of mountain range that sends water from USA to either the Pacific Ocean or the Gulf of Mexico.

At Gallup, the place to visit is El Rancho Hotel, where the movie stars stayed when Western movies were all the rage!

We missed Charlie, the radical right wing motorhead… but his favourite flag was flying and he’s definitely not a democrat!

The 66 Swap Meet is no more.

In fact it gets less and less every year and that illustrates the history that Route 66 is…

a living history with changes happening all the time. Lindsay was checking out the parts book, one of the few still mostly intact.

Next stop - Grants for a signature shot…

…then Lunch at R66 Brewery. Another new experience for us.

Through the other side of Dead Man’s Curve is Owl Rock! Really?… only in America!!

On through New Mexico we join the 40 to the old Rio Puerco Bridge on the outskirts of Albuquerque.

We’re chasing an early alignment of the Mother Road (and a classic Thunderbird!) that once ran north to Santa Fe.

The capital of Adobe for USA is evident everywhere in the art and architecture.

And that’s our overnight stop for day 7.
