We grabbed a sugary breakfast in Kingman before joining the old road west.

First stop Giganticus Headicus.

Then Hackberry, full of cars and curios.

Plenty of photo ops here.

On toward Seligman we use the original alignment, one of the last to be bypassed by the i40.

A sign of what’s ahead, the famous Burma Shave sign used by the local barber to attract custom.

Angel Delgadillo is the man behind Historic Route 66 and he stopped in for a special visit to chat to our group.

Inspiration overload, something that has to be experienced to understand.

He learned about Peggy, Robyn’s little merino lamb, back home in NZ on a staycation with friends.

The Snow Cap provided its full array of pranks! A small Coke?,.. straw with that?…

Back on the road we slide through what’s left of Ashfork, still boasting the original one way streets through town.

And then Williams where the new interstate was finally completed across America.

Bearizona had plenty on offer.

From big…

…to small…

…with bears and everything else in between.

We found wild horses in one drive through pasture - what a sight!

On to Grand Canyon to topping off a big day!

A place that earns its right to being one of the seven natural wonders of the world.

It’s also a great spot for a picnic dinner on the rim.

The perfect setting for a sun, like us about to rest after a busy day on America’s main road.
