The water levels behind Hoover Dam are reported the lowest since it was built… bits of America exposed for the first time in a century.


A splash and dash for Bob gave his Mustang some much needed fuel and others a chance behind the wheel on the dead straight i95.



Across the Colorado we wind our way up through mountain to Oatman.

Guarded by Burros, these easily bribed local identities are popular with the tourists and help take us back to the old days of the Wild West.


So too does the Main Street…

A hotel, where Clark Gable and Carol Lombard honeymooned…

And a dining room laced with Greenbacks.

The gunfight didn’t end well!… but the winner was a local hospital from the tips raised. No doubt they’ll live to fight another day.

The run downhill is like no other on Route 66, twisting and winding through the craggy landscape, all the while offering a magnificent panorama below.



Cool Springs is just that. Blown up in the movie Universal Soldier, these days it trades on that history and claims it inspired Radiator Springs in Cars - the movie.


Paralleling the train tracks on the Mother Road is pretty normal, so we raced the train through the pass into Kingman.

Trebe showed us a few of the cars he’s working on at the Bad Ass Garage.

Our old school Kiwi mechanic Lindsay, was last seen looking for a green card after discovering he could earn $56 an hour.

And Mr D’z was a welcome shake stop…

…before we headed for our wilderness resort in the hills of the Haulapai State Forest.
