Crossing the border into Oklahoma is Texola, a town that found itself in a tussle between states from time to time to time.

Time that seems to be frozen for her 43 residents.

A piece of road, rarely used is a special treat for our team…

Next is Elk City, a Route 66 (and much much more) display…

A veritable feast of farming machinery for even the most discerning agricultural enthusiast…

and we had a few!

More bridges,

more roads,

and we’re into Clinton, home of the R66 museum that spells out the old story a decade at a time.

Sid’s in El Reno is lunch, a classic old diner where the drive through is the way to beat the 45min ordering delay!

Then we slipped past Oklahoma City,

and on to Pops 66, the 66ft sculpture to attract us to the 700 plus soda pops available.

Next stop, The Round Barn in Arcadia and its clever design to house hay.

The outhouse, appeared to house hayseeds!

On through a little known leg of R66, once made famous by Paul McCartney who got lost there, asking a local for directions!

It leads to John Hargrave’s place!

Then Seaba Motorcycle museum..,

…a favourite for the day!

The day’s visits end at Jerry McClanahan’s studio…

…where we learned first hand what the road meant to Jerry as a boy.

Dinner and home for the night was Stroud.

It’s hard to beat the Rock Cafe for a feed.
