Rolla was our first stop... only we didn't, but we did snap a shot of the quarter scale Stonehenge created using water cutting tools the local Uni specialises in.

We took a wrong turn crossing the interstate at Newburg which just revealed more new treasures to see.

We didn't miss Hooker Cut though, the deepest cut by the original road, with the two lane still in local use today.

The Sine River is home to Devils Elbow a section of river known for being hard to negotiate.

It's also know for the massive floods five years ago when debris was left high in the bridge trusses, flooding the Mother Road.

If you didn't know where Uranus was, we do. Proudly providing food in the general store, served up with a little wit.

We crossed from one side to the other...

Yes, the frog in Waynesville is still perched in the hillside.

Walking the decommissioned Gasgonade Bridge, one wonders the secrets that lie beneath the broken layers of tar seal.

A Box Tortoise made it across the road with our help...

but we later wonder whether we returned him to the side he was wanting to get to!

Still, he was in the safety of the grass when we left, so hopefully the look in his eye was "thanks".

The crests were "flat" as our rally driver Raz informed us, easily able to be taken well in excess of the speed limit, if the law allowed.

It led to the famous Munger Moss Motel...

...where someone had a concept for combining a hot road and a van.

The Lebanon Library has an amazing family tree appropriately sculptured from wood that we appreciated...

While in nearby Marshfield it was hard not to appreciate the contribution of Edwin Hubble with telescope that took his name.

Leaving the old road we headed south on i65 to Branson for the night.

We caught sight of the backside of King Kong...

...and caught up with ex mustanger from Carthage, Jane Ballard, beside the flaming water feature at Branson Landing.

Of course there is nothing like a little family entertainment in Branson... and this time it was The Haywoods.
