Beginning in Williams we explored the amazing wildlife park on the outskirts of town - let the pictures tell that story!

There's a great example of old road just outside the Bearizona gate, blocked to stop access and locked in its own time warp.

In Flagstaff, there was a choice of 100 flavours of malt shakes at the Galaxy Diner.

We dropped on and off the i40 following whatever small bits of the old road remain...

...including Twin Arrows, which time and graffiti has remodeled. The gas pump no longer delivering fuel or even an indication of a price from days gone by.

We were privileged to chat with Mike West about his life working within the wildlife department of the Navajo Reservation. He's 66, checking out bits of 66 and planning on retiring soon to check out even more.

Two Guns is the place that was once home to mountain lions. What some folk would do to attract people in to buy gas from their pumps!

Across the desert plains of Arizona, sacred San Francsico Mountain stands proud, the tallest in the state.

Our team stood on the corner in Winslow Arizona...

...and posed under the famous sign at Jack Rabbit.

The Painted Desert landscape is breathtaking.

Remnants of R66 and the replacement interstate divide the desert and Petrified Forest...

...both jaw dropping in their size. America does national parks on a grand scale.

As does Mother Nature today with her brilliant use of light and clouds.

We settle in after a big day out, inside our wigwams in the border town of Holbrook.
