Leaving our tee pee accommodation in Holbrook we headed to Joseph City where remnants of old buildings still remain on the west side of town.

Nearby on the other side of the interstate is the lone Jack Rabbit site with its famous sign, newly decorated trading post building and more R66 trinkets to lure greenbacks from wallets and purses.

We stood on the corner in Winslow Arizona, gathered the obligatory photos and a coffee...

...chatted with the local Police who have a very special patch for their uniform.

Meteor Crater was a favourite for a few today, the massive whole in the earth's surface created by a 60 metre diameter meteor that tore through the atmosphere and smashed to the ground in just ten seconds. Little wonder the the dinosaurs disappeared when a 10 kilometre meteor hit the earth millions of years ago.

There's little life left at the Mountain Lion display at Two Guns but some of the stone work stands proudly as one of the great ways to convince Dad to stop in the good old days!.

The San Francisco Peaks are what remains of the volcanic mountain that still are the highest point in Arizona. At 12,600 ft they're a standout on the skyline in this otherwise flat terrain.

Flagstaff was next and that meant a shake (and lunch) at the original 50's Galaxy Diner.

The animals were alive and well at Bearizona, possibly the best we've witnessed, bears wandering amongst the ponies providing great close up viewing.

After settling in to Williams, we sped out to the South Rim entrance of the Grand Canyon.

Tusayan is home to the iMax film produced 30 years ago with soaring aerials captured from hand gliders to create a stunning history from one of the great natural wonders of the world - a perfect prelude to our final attraction.

The sunset didn't disappoint... and neither did dinner at our regular Robbie's Restaurant on the Rim.

A stunning end to another great day on the road.
