The distance was relatively short by road from Santa Fe to Albuquerque and with a delayed start there was time for many to check out parts of the old town they'd not go to yesterday.

Canyon Road is famous for its art and it certainly caught the attention of more than one or two with loose zips on their wallets.

By 11am we were diverting onto highway 16 which led to the Tent Rock Monument National Park.

This spectacular walk of 3 miles, climbing 700 feet through the water carved canyon revealed a spectacular view over this vast landscape south of the adobe capital.

We spent more time on this 'off the route' attraction but everyone considered it a highlight of the day.

A quick squirt down the i25 and we were at Unser's museum, where Janet had arranged for us to have a look at both displays of a the amazing family of racers.

Four generations of Unsers have or still race in anything from speedway, Pikes Peak or Indy Car.

Their personal collection of classic cars, race cars and trophy cabinet is certainly something to be admired... and first generation Jerry even had his garage on Route 66.

We ate in the old town of Albuquerque...

...later for those of us who were sidetracked by Eppie at Reds, a custom shop renovating anything and everything... so long as it was a Chev!

Two dogs were getting ready for night duty but proprietor Eppie Martinez was entertaining his new friends from down under, so there was no rush... and dinner would have to wait.
The boys eventually found the girls at a classic Mexican style restaurant and that was Day 12 on the road.
