We rejoined Route 66 off the i65 just south of Springfield Missouri.

The complete contrast between east and west has never been more evident than this tour and that's got to be a factor of the weather. The lush green hill country and pastures lining the old road to Cuba, show just how much rain has fallen in these parts.

Marshfield celebrates Edwin Hubble, the acclaimed astronomer who had the Hubble Telescope named after him. A 1/4 scale replica takes pride of place in the centre of his hometown.

Lebanon city's 66 display is compact and concise. Another museum with a twist on the story and the style of presentation before we moved on past the famous Munger Moss Motel.

Equally famous is the barn highlighting Meramec Caverns... a feature of a day still to come.

The frog on the hill watched on as we passed through Waynesville...

...and on to Uranus where self proclaimed Mayor of Uranus Louie Keen (and the 25 residents) has established his unusual attraction.

Great spot for lunch and some fudge... we even provided our unwanted baby carrots for their handsome Macaw.

Devil's Elbow has nothing to do with the road, it's a reference to the log jams often created in a tight bend of the Big Piney River far below.

This section of the Mother Road has a combination of recently sealed single lane and old divided dual lane surfaces providing a pleasurable cruise in the countryside.

The water cut 'Stone Henge' look alike isn't a patch on the real deal in the UK but it's another 'attraction' of sorts as we wound our way through Roma.

As is the world's largest Rocking Chair in Fanning. Why? our group asked.

Well in reality, would we have otherwise have stopped in Fanning and discovered their gift store with some of the quirkiest, alternate Mother Road merchandise we've seen so far

In Cuba, aside the stunning murals....

...it would have to be Connie's iconic Wagon Wheel Motel for rest tonight.

Gathering clouds rolled in and the ominous sign of

the impending thunderstorm sent everyone for cover at the Missouri Hick BBQ next door, where shelter from the rain, some great conversation and good food had the weather and day 14 on the road to Chicago wrapped up in no time.
