Breakfast for Day 7 was at The Wild West Junction.

Owner and Williams Mayor John Moore entertained us with stories of the day the new interstate opened and the main street became an "eerie Twilight Zone".

John used to be the local Sheriff, so Craig didn't start out well. His collection of novel gimmicks around his accommodation establishment is... well fun!

On the outskirts of town is Bearizona and as the name suggests, there are bears - a first for Brownie! The junior bears were in a playful mood but even at this size it was good to have the trench and electric wire between them and us.

The black panther enclosure has been added to, now home to a second black cat and jaguar.

Just east of Williams we found a dirt road (not tat common on Route 66) we'd previously thought was a dead end, but it slipped through private property (with a 15mph limit) and emerged further on where we rejoined the i40, something we would do regularly throughout the day.
Just off the Mother Road is Meteor Crater, created after one dropped in in the 1930s. Who'd have ever thought a hole in the ground would make an attraction - but it's certainly a big one!

The topography was changing as we moved across Arizona...

but remnants of the old road were littered everywhere providing spectacular backdrops and an indication of just how summery it isn't!

. This trip opened up another 'attraction' with access into Twin Arrows making a great place for lunch and a little roadside shopping for the girls from passing Indian women.

The Mountain Lion enclosure nearby at Two Guns hadn't seen business in many a year but the landscape still shows evidence of one of the most unusual means of attracting travellers to stop for gas.

No Stand'n on the corner in Winslow Arizona... we passed the flatbed Ford and headed east.

...Here It Is signalled the point made famous by the small yellow and black signs depicting the distance to Jack Rabbit Trading Post, just shy of Holbrook.

A pose for Brownie with Jack Rabbit and then another disused Trading Post at Joseph City which highlights the way the interstate killed off the old road...

and then we were in Holbrook for an unusual night's accommodation to end another day of our American adventure odyssey.
