2019 EB Day 3 - Bright Lights Beckon

It was a quick run out on the freeway to Cajun Pass and Route 66 at Victorville where Patti and her team opened up early for our tour.

A Hippie throw back for a few... and for the mechanically minded one of the technical updates they missed for the old Ford!

On the old loop road around to Barstow we stopped to snap a shot to prove we really were on the old road, and sampled the first of the vintage motels in Barstow which still operate all the way through to Chicago.

Peggy Sues 50's Diner at Yermo was a comfort stop... some of the girls enjoying that experience more than others...

...and a 'take out' of their famous 'curly fries'.

The traffic for Memorial Weekend, the busiest time on the road to Vegas all year we're told.

Still it was surprisingly smooth and with only the odd interruption for a convoy photo before we sidetracked to Pioneer Springs Saloon at Goodsprings.

Famously, Clark Gable stayed here for two weeks while they searched for the plane that crashed and killed his young wife Carol Lombard.

There was even a barrel of whiskey out back named after this tour... although we haven't identified who the 'DownUnder Licker' is, as yet!

It was back on the road for the final 30 miles for showtime in showtown and several caught a standout Celine Dion performance, while others walked the strip, doing what they could not to attract attention from the local cops. We understand it may have been a charge of random breast testing but we'll bail Brownie in the morning regardless.

Post stroll and performance the tour diehards converged on a bar in Caesars where David Perrico's Pop Strings Orchestra entertained until the eye lids drooped beyond control and it was time to call it quits.

A day off in Vegas beckons and we'll see what that brings... no doubt some shopping at the Outlet Malls.
